MAX Log Clean & Press (Powerlifting Style)

MAX Log Clean & Press (Powerlifting Style)

Athletes will have 3 attempts to clean & press the heaviest log possible. Athlete will specify each attempt.

  • Three (3) attempts to establish your maximum successful lift.

  • Athletes will declare their opening attempt before the competition begins.

  • Attempts must increase in weight after each successful lift. No decreases are permitted.

  • 30-second time limit begins when the head judge signals the athlete.

  • Log must be cleaned from the floor and pressed overhead in one continuous attempt.

  • Once the log leaves the pads, it may not touch the pads again. If it returns to the pads before completion, the attempt is ruled No Lift.

  • Athlete must demonstrate control with the log motionless overhead.

  • Head judge will issue the "Down" command. Lowering the log before the command results in a No Lift.

  • Standard competition logs: 12-inch diameter for men, 10-inch diameter for women.

  • Athletes must compete in shoes or socks.

  • Permitted equipment: Knee sleeves, elbow sleeves, neoprene shorts, grip shirt, wrist wraps, one hard belt, and one soft belt.

  • Liquid chalk or powder chalk is permitted.

  • No tacky or sticky substances are allowed on the athlete, log, or equipment.

  • Best successful lift out of three attempts determines the athlete's final result.

  • All official results will be recorded and archived by Strength Sports America.

MAX Deadlift (Powerlifting Style)

Athletes will have 3 attempts to deadlift the heaviest weight possible. Athlete will specify each attempt.

  • Three (3) attempts to establish your maximum successful deadlift.

  • Athletes will declare their opening attempt before the competition begins.

  • Attempts must increase in weight after each successful lift. No decreases are permitted.

  • 9-inch deadlift height measured from the floor to the center of the bar.

  • Conventional stance only. Sumo stance is not permitted.

  • 30-second time limit begins when the head judge signals the athlete.

  • One continuous pull from the floor to a fully locked-out position.

  • Athlete must stand erect with knees and hips fully locked and shoulders back under control.

  • Head judge will issue the "Down" command. Lowering the bar before the command results in a No Lift.

  • Athletes must compete in shoes or socks.

  • Permitted equipment: Knee sleeves, elbow sleeves, neoprene shorts, wrist wraps, one hard belt, one soft belt, lifting straps, and figure-eight straps.

  • Liquid chalk or powder chalk is permitted.

  • No tacky or sticky substances are allowed on the athlete, barbell, or equipment.

  • Best successful lift out of three attempts determines the athlete's final result.

  • All official results will be recorded and archived by Strength Sports America.

MAX Atlas Stone Over Bar (Powerlifting Style)

MAX Atlas Stone Over Bar (Powerlifting Style)

Athletes will have 3 attempts to load the heaviest atlas stone possible over a set height bar. Athlete will specify each attempt.

  • Three (3) attempts to establish your maximum successful Atlas Stone Over Bar.

  • Athletes will declare their opening stone weight before the competition begins.

  • Stone weights must increase after each successful lift. No decreases are permitted.

  • 30-second time limit begins when the head judge signals the athlete.

  • Athletes must load the stone from the floor over the bar in one continuous attempt.

  • Men will load over a 48-inch bar.

  • Women will load over a 44-inch bar.

  • The stone must completely clear the bar and come to rest on the opposite side for a successful lift.

  • Athletes may not intentionally rest or support the stone on top of the bar. The stone must pass cleanly over the bar.

  • Athletes may not use the bar to assist the lift. If either hand touches or grabs the bar during the attempt, the lift will be ruled a No Lift.

  • Athletes must compete in shoes.

  • Permitted equipment: Grip shirt, knee sleeves, elbow sleeves, neoprene shorts, one hard belt, and one soft belt.

  • Lifting straps and figure-eight straps are not permitted.

  • Tacky, a tacky towel, liquid chalk, or powder chalk are permitted.

  • Best successful lift out of three attempts determines the athlete's final result.

  • All official results will be recorded and archived by Strength Sports America.
